Celebrate holidays, seasons and Women's History Month with Monica Peterson's interactive storytelling experience. Virtual stories are also available.

SPIDERS AND PUMPKINS (Grades Pre-K – 5)
Myths of autumn and spring from around the world.  Join storyteller Monica Peterson in:

  • A quest to help a group of animal friends bring a change of seasons to the world (after which students will build their own star clocks.)

  • Outwitting a gigantic and ornery pumpkin (while making connections to the pumpkin life cycle and formation of the solar system.)

  • Laughing at the antics of Anansi the Spider (in a myth about the origin of spiders' tiny waists.)

  • Saving farm animals from a tricky fox.

STORIES OF SNOW (Grades Pre-K - 5)
Tales of winter magic:

  • “The Snow Queen” – an interpretation of Hans Christian Anderson’s classic about the triumph of loyalty.

  • “Dragon’s Winter Journey” – a Dragon travels in search of holiday joy and ends up finding acceptance of his uniqueness.

  • “The Great Walled Country” – an adventure set in a land of children that is surrounded by a wall of ice, and where the children learn it is better to give than to receive.

PRESIDENTS AND PATRIOTS (Grades Pre-K – 5)
An inspiring Presidents' Day celebration that even the youngest audience member can enjoy.  Students:

  • Experience the childhood struggles and triumphs of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and ride along with patriot Sybil Ludington (the female Paul Revere.)

  • Learn about George Washington's coat, Abraham Lincoln's book, and Sybil Ludington's horse. Interact with Washington and Lincoln as puppets.  After the show students can make their own puppets.

LEPRECHAUNS AND GIANTS (Grades Pre-K – 5)
Perfect for St. Patrick's Day. Children will laugh at:

  • The antics of leprechauns.

  • A baker who outwits the fairies.

  • A mother who rescues her baby from fairyland.

OUR FOUNDING MOTHERS (Grades 5 – adult)
Wonderful for the 4th of July or a commemoration of women’s history. Stories include:

  • "Hannah Handy" - the story of a Vermont woman's heroic actions to save her son and neighbors' children during the Revolutionary War.

  • "The Ghost Ship of New Haven" - during the founding of the New Haven colony, a mother helps her family survive.
